Tucson Ford Dealers Aquatics won the 2009 Arizona Senior State Championships held at the Westside YMCA in Litchfield. The swim of the meet came from Ford's adopted Amy Spaay. In her second ever long course 100 breaststroke, Amy swam an astonishing 1:12.50 and swam faster than the 2008 Olympic Trial Qualifying Time. Congrats Amy. Several swimmers joined the ranks of Ford's Sectional Team. Tyler Mattingly led the way with four first time sectional qualifying times. His times came in the 100free (55.94), 200free (2:00.81), 400free (4:17.96), and 200breast (2:40.15). Matt Berg swam the long course sectional qualifying times in the 100back (1:03.70), and 200back (2:19.24). Finally Griff Carter-Doyle: 200fly (2:19.07), Alex Leighton: 200fly (2:19.18), and Briana Wilford: 200IM (2:30.36). For athletes who were using this as their main shave and taper meet, Ford swam almost 80 percent lifetime bests. Many swimmers had dominating personal performances by swimming lifetime bests every time they got on the blocks. Tyler Mattingly again led the way going 11/11 swims. Griff Carter-Doyle was second going 8/8. Other Ford swimmers who reached perfection at the meet included: Collin Coelet(6/6), Matt Berg(6/6), Sloan Burns(6/6), Maddie Owen(6/6), Angela McCollam(6/6), Brendan Tidwell(6/6), Mary Baumann(5/5), Sammy Visbal(5/5), Amy Spaay (5/5), and Roger Page(5/5). The following swimmers swam more than 5 lifetime bests at the meet: Alex Leighton(8/9), Nolan Houlton(7/8), Anna Schorr(6/7), and Regina McNair-Larese(6/9). Congratulations to everyone for an amazing season.
